Meet your Pleasure Advisor!
Welcome to the second post on Sl*ck Pussy Politx. This is Virtù’s occasional blog, a space where we can discourse on sexuality and sensuality at the intersections. Today, I’m introducing myself and my vision with Virtù.
Hi, my name is Anthea, and I’m the lead Pleasure Advisor at Virtù.
Some things to know about me:
I love my body. I think ALL bodies are beautiful, and I believe that we should all be able to be in communion with our bodies.
Sensuality is one of the core organising principles of my life.
I love sex and my sexuality. I believe sex is beautiful and miraculous - I count it among the gifts of God.
I believe pleasure is good.
On the subject of God - I love God deeply. I am Christian (Protestant, continuationist, trinitarian) and I work with people of all (or no) faiths. My deep and abiding faith is the reason I love my body. It is the reason I love sex and my sexuality, because of God, I am a sensual being. My faith is the reason I relish the miracle of the body, and the reason that I understand the centrality of pleasure and joy in experiencing his goodness. God made a beautiful world, and the body is the instrument through which I experience and enjoy it. My faith is the reason I reside in joy, and my faith is the reason I am building this invitation to all of you to reside in pleasure, daily.
Some of my beliefs that inform my ways of working:
God is love. Everything God does is good. His creation is good.
God made my body, sex, and the world we live in, and experience through our senses (sensuality), in love.
My body is good.
My body is God’s temple.
My body is holy.
I believe that God created my body to do many things, including sex, and that God set sex apart and didn’t design it merely for reproduction. I understand and affirm that:
Sex is holy.
Sex is good.
Sex is a central part of our lives.
I believe that part of my walking faithfully with God is enjoying my body, enjoying sex and my sexuality, and enjoying his world with my senses (sensuality), to his glory. I glorify God with how I treat my body, my sexuality, and how I relate to his world. Relatedly, I think people of faith(s) should take their bodies, their sexual practices and sexualities, and sensualities more seriously as part and parcel of their faith experiences and walks. I do not believe that God intends his standards of righteousness to cause us to be alienated from him and his creation(s), namely our bodies, from ourselves, our sexualities, nor from our ability to feel and to connect with the world around us, and with our loved ones.
Many people of faith(s) carry sexual shame, the ingrained remnants of various purity cultures which suggest that sexuality is dirty, shameful, or inherently sinful, and downright bad, or they may carry general discomfort about sex, sexuality, and sensuality that may stem from not having received comprehensive sexuality education. I aim to be an accompaniment (and encouragement) to people of faith(s) as you unlearn, work, and walk your way out of the wilderness. I aim to fill in the basic sexuality, sensuality, and pleasure knowledge /comfort /freedom /liberation /joy /affirmation gaps you may have, so you can be home in your body, in your desires, and in your pleasure.
Virtù is an invitation. I invite you to be free to grow in your sexuality and sensuality, and to (re)connect with your body. I invite you to receive and enjoy the blessing of your body, sexuality, and sensuality. I invite you to know that your body is good and holy. I invite you to know that sex is good and holy.
Sexual liberation, body liberation, and erotic justice can be explored from where you are, as the person of faith you are. Let’s have a chat, or a session, or a workshop - invite me to speak at your church conference or kitchen party or with a group of your friends. I’d love to meet you - email me: hello@welcomevirtu.com
Let’s unfuck your sex, together!
Lots of love,
Anthea xx
P.S. I love to draw and doodle bodies, I’m obsessed! Enjoy one of my recent faves.
